Letter from the President 2006
One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man.

Greetings from MinneapolisNEXT...
For nine years now, with the help of generous donors like you, we have been helping create extraordinary kids by providing underprivileged youth high school scholarships and financial aid for life-enriching programs.
Over that time, we’ve seen an explosion in the use of new technology for information as well as entertainment. We can’t do much about the rapid growth of technology, but it’s imperative that we arm our young people with the tools they need to interpret and prioritize the information with which they are bombarded.
A good education is the key. The fact is, determined young people from all corners of the globe are fired up to reach, not merely maintain, our standard of living. Stiff competition awaits today’s youth while many of them sit in front of a television, amusing themselves to death.
At MinneapolisNEXT, we identify kids with the drive and potential to become our next leaders — those eager to meet the challenges that lie ahead, but hindered by economic disadvantages. With your help, we can arm them with the tools they need to succeed. At high schools such as DeLaSalle, our scholarship students are reaping the benefits a disciplined approach to learning and life can bestow. When they acquire these skills, it is a gain for our society as a whole. If they don’t, we all suffer the loss. Can we count on your support?
In the 2006-07 school year, MinneapolisNEXT is providing scholarships to more than 30 high school students, and funding almost 100 young girls and boys to partake in arts and sports programming. Our efforts are adding up. Since 1997, we’ve provided more than 160 scholarships, and dozens of our “alumni” are now enrolled in college.
It’s clear to see that we are investing the seed capital for a bright future for the next generation of leaders. With this investment, everyone in the community is rewarded. But we need your help. Beginning in 2006, our volunteer Board of Directors is paying all administrative expenses. Our deepest thanks for your generosity this holiday season.
