Our Mission

MinneapolisNEXT was founded on the principle that the best way to improve our community is by investing in its young people. To that end, MinneapolisNEXT funds life-enhancing educational, tutorial, and extra-curricular programming for determined, hard-working, at-risk youth in the Twin Cities. These young people show exceptional desire and ability to succeed in life. We give them the opportunities and tools they need to achieve their goals and pursue their dreams.

Our signature MinneapolisNEXT scholarship program, in partnership with private high schools, receives the majority of our funding and attention. The financial and emotional support we provide allows low-income families to make choices in education and activities, despite their socioeconomic standing. The scholarships we offer are partial, requiring a tuition contribution from each student's family. We partner with them, getting them involved in the educational experiences of their children. This is key to our success and sets MinneapolisNEXT apart from other organizations — as does our policy of having board-paid administrative costs, so that 100 percent of all donations directly benefit kids in need.
